The pressure is on to find that graduate job.
The pressure has come on this years graduate leavers as they compete with those who left university in 2008 and 2009 for places on scarce graduate trainee schemes.
On average, employers are receiving 45 applications per place. But, in some market sectors such as fast moving consumer goods (fmcg), companies such as Unilever and Proctor & Gamble are receiving up to 270 applications for each place. Assuming that applicants meet the minimum criteria of a 2.1 or above the competition at interview and assessment centre is going to be fierce.
